Tweedsmuir Public School plans to celebrate the recent completion of its $11.5-million expansion with an onsite rededication ceremony on Wednesday, October 5 at 2:00 p.m.

Originally built in 1959, Tweedsmuir recently underwent significant renovations including a gymnasium addition, classroom updates and development of a new library learning commons. The school now has space for 494 students and accommodated most Fairmont Public School students this fall.

“I recently visited Tweedsmuir on the first day of school and am thrilled to be back to officially celebrate this exciting expansion,” said TVDSB Director of Education, Mark Fisher. “We’re grateful for community members who participated in the Design Committee, our partners at the City of London and Ministry of Education, and the talented team of architects, general contractors and staff that have made this project a success,” says Fisher.

The rededication ceremony will include student performances as well as words from the Principal, Vice Principal, Thames Valley Trustees, and the Director of Education, before concluding with a plaque unveiling.

“This project is truly an addition for the Tweedsmuir school community and families joining them from Fairmont Public School. I’m excited and honoured to be a part of celebrating this expansion - it represents a big win for Thames Valley,” said school Chair of the Board of Trustees, Lori-Ann Pizzolato.
